Start planning your Mongolia journey

We’re a small team and every enquiry is read carefully. Whether you’re interested in one of our small group journeys, a tailor-made trip, or simply want to understand whether Mongolia — and our style of travel — is right for you, we’d be happy to hear from you.

We’ve also included some frequently asked questions below, which may help before you get in touch.

What information should I include in my enquiry?

The most useful details are:

  • When you hope to travel (month and year)
  • How many people are travelling
  • Whether you prefer a small group or tailor-made journey
  • Any regions, festivals, or experiences you are especially interested in
  • Your preferred comfort level
  • Anything important we should know, such as mobility, dietary, medical, or personal considerations

How quickly will you reply?

We are a small team, so replies are personal rather than automated. We usually aim to respond within 24–48 hours, although it can occasionally take longer during busy periods or when our Mongolia team is on the road.

Please also check your spam or junk folder, as replies sometimes end up there. If you are concerned that we haven’t received your enquiry, you are welcome to send us a WhatsApp message as well.

Yes. Many travellers come to us with a general interest in Mongolia rather than a fixed route in mind. We can help you think through the season, region, pace, comfort level, and style of journey that may suit you best.

If this is your first time in Mongolia, we may suggest a journey that gives you a strong introduction to the country without trying to do too much. If you have travelled in Mongolia before, we can help you look at slower, more remote, or more specific routes.

Yes. We design tailor-made journeys across Mongolia, but always within the style and values of Eternal Landscapes.

That means we don’t simply arrange a list of places to visit. We think carefully about pace, distance, local partnerships, seasonal realities, and whether the journey makes sense on the ground. Some routes work beautifully. Others look good on a map but are too rushed, too fragile, or too dependent on unreliable logistics. We will always be honest with you about that.

Before preparing a tailor-made proposal, we will ask for your approximate budget per person. This helps us design something realistic from the start, rather than suggesting a journey that does not match what you want to spend. Without at least an approximate budget, we are not able to prepare a useful proposal or advise you honestly on what is possible.

Tailor-made journeys take time to design properly. Depending on the length and complexity of the trip, it can take us 10 days to two weeks to prepare an initial proposal. This allows us to think through the route, timings, accommodation, local partnerships, and practical realities carefully, rather than rushing out an itinerary that may not work well on the ground.

Yes. Solo travellers are very welcome on many of our small group journeys. Our groups are intentionally small, usually with a maximum of 5–6 people, and in many cases two travellers are enough for us to confirm a departure.

If you are travelling alone and would prefer a tailor-made journey, we can also discuss this with you. Mongolia can be expensive as a private solo trip because of the distances, vehicle costs, and team structure, but we will explain the options clearly.

We are not a luxury tour operator.

Where Mongolia allows, we can include more comfortable accommodation, private gers, en-suite options, or higher-standard camps. However, much of Mongolia’s travel infrastructure remains simple, especially outside the main tourism hubs.

Our focus is not polished luxury. It is thoughtful, well-supported travel through Mongolia as it is lived. That includes beautiful landscapes and generous hospitality, but also long drives, basic facilities, weather changes, rough roads, and days that do not always go exactly to plan.

Yes. If you would like to travel independently, self-drive, or use your own arrangements while still benefiting from our knowledge and local contacts, we offer two planning support options.

Our US$50 contact list gives you access to a carefully selected list of contacts in Mongolia, including rural guesthouses and locally run places that may be able to help arrange accommodation, meals, transport support, or local experiences directly.

We also offer a more detailed US$250 itinerary planning service. With this, we help you shape your route, think through timings and logistics, and make practical suggestions based on our experience of travel in Mongolia. This is a planning service only — we do not operate the trip ourselves, provide guiding, or take responsibility for the arrangements once you are travelling independently.

This option works well for travellers who are confident managing their own trip but would value grounded advice before they go.
