Our Cook and Connect Ulaanbaatar cookery class is a relaxed, hands-on introduction to Mongolian food and everyday family life. This is not a professional kitchen or a staged cookery experience — it takes place in the apartment home of one of our trip assistants, where family life continues around you. You’ll cook together, share conversation, and experience a small part of modern Ulaanbaatar through the simple, everyday act of preparing and eating a meal.

Cook & Connect: Ulaanbaatar Cookery Class Half Day Experience

Half Day Experience Overview

An informal Mongolian cookery class in the home of one of our female trip assistants

For those with only a few hours to spare, this informal cookery class offers a warm introduction to Mongolian cuisine and everyday life. Hosted in the cosy Ulaanbaatar apartment home of Odnoo, one of our trip assistants, it reflects who we are — a small, community-focused team sharing modern Mongolia in a personal and welcoming way. Together with her partner, their twin boys and her older son, there is usually plenty going on and a real sense of everyday family life.

You’ll cook alongside Odnoo, one of our all-female team of trip assistants — someone who prepares these meals regularly for her own families. As you chop, stir, cook and share stories together, you’ll gain insight into Mongolia’s food culture and discover how simple, local ingredients are transformed into nourishing, flavourful dishes.

Dishes may include Tsuivan (stir-fried flour noodles), khuushuur (mutton pancakes), and buuz (Mongolian dumplings). For vegetarians, we can adapt the ingredients.

  • If you have allergies or food restrictions, please let us know before booking so we can confirm if we can accommodate them.
